The bug persists and it's clearly MY emission being mangled — the transactions show my lineup diffs as {} or only K changes. My slots argument keeps getting truncated to head/tail keys. This is the same session-deterministic pattern from Tuesday. The playbook says: stop retrying in-session after 2-3 tries. I've now made 2 attempts this session. One more try with a careful structure? The scratchpad said in-window retries were useless — both sessions confirmed it. The pattern is eerie: head+tail keys survive. In this session's first call, "BAL": "DST", "K": "4227" and "4227" tail... hmm. Let me think about the actual mangling: my first call's args contained keys "4227", "5859", "BAL", "DST", "FLEX", "IR", "K", "QB", "RB1", "RB2", "TE", "WR1", "WR2" — the values I wrote were wrong for some (reversed pairs). The response applied DST=BAL, K=4227 only. So valid slot keys QB/RB1/RB2/WR1/WR2/TE/FLEX with correct player-id values were IGNORED. Wait, were the values correct? I wrote "FLEX": "9480", "QB": "4046", etc. — those look right. But the reversed junk keys ("4227": "K") may have caused the parser to fail on the whole object except tail keys? So what survived in call 1: "BAL": "DST" is an invalid key (BAL is not a slot)... yet DST=BAL was set — because I also had "DST": "BAL". And K: I had "K": "4227" valid. So the valid keys that survived were DST and K. The valid keys that didn't: QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, TE, FLEX. And IR: "IR": "5859" — did IR survive? IR was already 5859, so can't tell. Pattern: DST and K survived... they're alphabetically adjacent in the middle. Not obviously head/tail. Honestly, the mechanism is opaque. It might be that my emission of the tool call itself gets garbled when long. Two more hypotheses: (a) calls with many keys get truncated; (b) something about my output format. Tuesday's session: 5 attempts all same result. Today: 2 attempts, same-ish. New idea: try emitting the slots with FEWER keys but still all 10 required? The scratchpad says omit IR → roster_full error. But actually, is that true? The error might have been from an old test. Full-replace semantics mean omitted slots → null, which for starters is fine (they're already null) but IR omitted → error per scratchpad ("omit IR → roster_full error"). So minimum viable call must include IR and DST (else DST → null too). Let me try ONE more variant: put the slots in a different order — maybe the truncation keeps the LAST N keys. If head+tail survive... ugh. Actually, let me re-read the scratchpad lesson: "5/5 calls truncated to head+tail keys (DST+IR survived every time; reorder attempts emitted identical args)". "reorder attempts emitted identical args" — meaning when I tried to reorder, the emitted args came out identical anyway. That suggests my generation is collapsing to a canonical form regardless of intent. That is a strong signal that retries within a session are futile. OK here's another thought: what if the issue is that I'm passing player IDs as strings vs numbers? No — "BAL" worked, "4227" worked. Hypothesis: maybe there's a key-count or payload-size limit and it keeps the FIRST few keys in some canonical order? Canonical order might be QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, TE, FLEX, DST, K, IR... if it kept the first N in canonical order, it would keep QB first — but QB was dropped. If it kept the LAST few in canonical order: ...DST, K, IR — exactly the three survivors! In call 1, survivors: DST, K (IR unchanged, presumably also "survived" but same value). Tuesday: survivors DST+IR (K... hmm, K was toggled null→4227 and 4227→null on Tuesday per transactions 803/804 — so K DID get set on Tuesday too in some calls). So: tail keys in canonical order survive. Payload gets truncated to the last ~3 keys. This suggests a length limit in my emission pipeline. If so, NO ordering trick will fit 10 keys... unless the limit is on something else, like total characters, and 10 short keys could fit if... The payload is inherently ~200 chars. Can't shrink much. BUT — what about set_lineup defaults? "Every rostered player you do not name is on the bench." Full replace: omitted starter slots → null. Hmm, so I can't build incrementally. Wait, actually — CAN I build incrementally? Transactions 829/834: call 1 (13 keys) set K to 4227; call 2 (2 keys: DST+IR) set K to null. So omitted K was nulled. Full replace confirmed. Incremental won't work... UNLESS I can get all 10 keys under the size limit. What survived: DST, K, IR = 3 keys. Maybe the limit is ~3-4 keys?? Then a 10-key call is hopeless. Alternative: maybe the mangling is in MY head — i.e., I keep hallucinating that I emitted all keys but only emitted tail ones. The instruction says reorder attempts "emitted identical args". This is a deterministic generation failure. Practical takeaway: THIS SESSION cannot set the full lineup. The autos on Sunday are separate sessions — different sampling, might succeed. Also the post_waivers session today IS this session. Hmm. Wait, wait. Let me look at transaction 803: "K":{"to":"4227","from":null} at Tue 7:01 — so on Tuesday one call DID set K. And 804 nulled it. And today 829 set K, 834 nulled it. So the pattern each session: first call sets DST+K(+IR), second call (fewer keys) keeps DST(+IR) and nulls K. Consistent with truncation-to-tail. One more idea: since tail keys survive, what if I emit slots with keys in an order where the 7 empty slots are at the TAIL... but "reorder attempts emitted identical args" — my reorders don't actually reorder. The system may canonicalize JSON key order (alphabetical or schema order). If canonical order is alphabetical: DST, FLEX, IR, K, QB, RB1, RB2, TE, WR1, WR2 → tail = TE, WR1, WR2. But survivors were DST, K, IR — not alphabetical tail. If canonical is schema order (QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, TE, FLEX, DST, K, IR) → tail = DST, K, IR ✓✓✓. That matches EXACTLY. The emission is truncated to the last 3 keys in schema order. Possibly a max array/object length of 3 somewhere, or my generation stops early and the tail is what's complete. Test of this theory: on Tuesday, survivors were DST + IR... and K toggled, so K was in some calls. Consistent with last-3 = DST, K, IR. If the cap is 3 keys, I can never set more than DST+K+IR in one call, and full-replace nulls everything else. Hopeless in-session. UNLESS the cap is on something I can influence. Honestly, the best move: accept the bug this session, keep the board-posted safeguard card, and rely on Sunday's auto sessions (new sessions → new sampling → decent chance of success). The scratchpad playbook says exactly this. Also, no Marauder locks before Sunday 9:30 AM, and the 8:03 AM auto covers London. Hmm, but one more idea worth ONE try: emit the slots argument as a nested structure with all 10 keys but... no. Or try setting lineup for week 7 instead to test? No — week 7 has its own issues (JCM/Strange byes) and a successful wk7 set wouldn't fix wk6. Actually — could I set week 6 lineup via setting... no, week param is explicit.
